Lead Field Coordinator
Holly Hellerstedt is the Lead Field Coordinator at Canvass for a Cause. She was looking for a job after college and knew tons of really cool people who worked at CFAC, heard about some of the work that they did on Proposition 19, and came to find out what they were all about.
CFAC is important to Holly because it has given her a great community to bond with. Even beyond that, she believes CFAC is able to take on issues that a lot of people aren't at the drop of a hat. The fact that CFAC operates through public, grassroots organizing is just beautiful to Holly, because we need to be reaching out and getting more people involved.
Previous to this, she had been involved in a lot of environmental activism. She did canvassing for the No On Prop 23 campaign at the San Diego State campus, as well as state-wide organizing. She was also part of a Citizen's Climate Lobby for environmental issues. She went to D.C. and worked with a lot of different politicians and community members on trying to get environmental legislation passed. She has also done a lot of volunteer recruitment.
Within the next five to ten years, Holly would like to see us getting back to being a sustainable community and being able to see everyone have their rights, be autonomous, be who they want to be, and actually not have to live in a world where we are hurting each-other and hurting this planet in order to get by.
Something that might surprise people is that she is a huge bike rider, but the only bone that she’s ever broken was from riding her bike.
