Membership Coordinator
Nico is the Membership Coordinator at Canvass for a Cause. He got involved in both his GSA and the Decline to Sign campaign for pre-Proposition 8, but drifted away from activism until he attended a church event, where he met someone who said he got paid to fight for gay rights. He starting working for CFAC within a week and has never looked back.
Since then, it has been an amazing ride, and the ride is still going. He says, “We just keep growing as an organization. Not only is CFAC growing in leaps and bounds while I am here, I am growing with it. Too often in politics and in America, we rely on the media sensation and money to pay for campaigns, be they issue-based or what have you.”
Nico feels like what CFAC represents is a new style of grassroots activism; CFAC is capable of working on absolutely any campaign that has been worked on or will ever come up, and CFAC does it all from a grassroots perspective. CFAC has already proven that it is effective. Statistics show that it takes 600 hours of TV time or 2,000 mailers to change someone's mind on a human rights issue, but it takes only six in-depth conversations with an organizer to completely change their viewpoint. Not only does CFAC have an ability to change politics here in San Diego and California, but across the whole country, activating thousands of people to become their own activists.
Something that might surprise people about Nico is that he was born in America but actually spent his early childhood in Italy.
